State pension, workplace pension and your own savings

Most countries build retirement income in layers. The state pension is paid by a public fund and usually depends on how many years you contributed and, in many countries, on how much you earned. A workplace or second pillar pension is funded by contributions through your employer. Personal savings fill whatever gap remains.

MyPensionKit focuses on the state pension, because it is the part that follows clear legal formulas. Where a second pillar is mandatory and simple to estimate, as in Switzerland, North Macedonia, Croatia and Australia, we include it. All results are shown in today's money: we assume your salary keeps the same relation to the average wage and use the 2026 point values, rates and thresholds.

Financial planners often use 70% of the last salary as a comfortable target. If your estimate is below that, the calculator shows the monthly saving needed to close the gap, assuming a 3% real return.

How much of your salary does the state pension replace?

Estimated net state pension for a 40 year old with 15 years of contributions on a typical salary, retiring at the statutory age, 2026 rules in today's money.

About MyPensionKit

MyPensionKit is a free tool by Limitless (OD LIMITLESS) from Ilidza, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the team behind NetSalaryKit. We built it because pension rules are long and hard to read, while the question people ask is simple: how much will I get, and when? Each country page explains the rules in plain language and links to the official sources we use.
