How the pension is calculated in Poland
Poland uses a defined-contribution system. Every month 19.52% of your gross salary is recorded on your ZUS account and subaccount, and at retirement the total capital is divided by the average life expectancy in months at your retirement age. That is why every extra year of work raises the pension noticeably.
